Palm Updates on the case, Jon Rubinstein could run out into the street

Palm Updates on the case, Jon Rubinstein could run out into the street

The Palm pilgrimage in search of a solution to all your ills seems to pass by the first victim recovered in this whole mess. The news, which has shaken the newsrooms of some media in the middle weekend, is neither more nor less than the unemployment of its current executive director, Jon Rubisntein.

Rubinstein became CEO of the American company bought by investment group Elevation Partners, leaving his post as senior vice president of Apple's iPod division. He and his team, architects webOS operating system, currently hold the conviction that the viability plan for the survival of Palm as an independent company they will get from it.

If however, Rubinstein faces unable to move their devices whose sales are almost nonexistent accumulating a large stock units, losing market share plummets against competitors Apple, Blackberry or Android, as well as the relegated position that mobile operators have had to Palm.

To make matters worse, Rubinstein is unable to find a buyer who is able to rescue the company that once stood at the forefront of mobile devices. Unfortunately, the plight of Palm is part of the legacy of former CEO and founder of the brand, Ed Colligan. Even so, that's another story to be told at another time.

ZTE is not interested in buying Palm

ZTE is not interested in buying Palm

The soap opera will bring tail Palm, last week we informed you that the company put the sign "For Sale" and it was logical as possible couple began dating, mostly from China, including the harder-sounding company ZTE.

ZTE is the second Chinese manufacturer in the mobile telephony sector, and like Huawei, another potential buyer, need to make a picture of European and American markets, where its sales are almost disappointing.

But the solution is not to buy Palm, since according to Hou Weigui, president of ZTE, the costs Europe and the U.S. are too high, thus ruling out the purchase.

At present the Chinese market is so big and you are competing hard to gain the maximum users for 3G networks, which exports account for a relatively business small to be a priority for ZTE. But that does not mean that they are not preparing a landing outside its borders seriously.

Will you end the historic company in Chinese hands?, We already have a first bidder bid is cleared.

Serious vulnerabilities in the platform WebOS

A skinny dog all are fleas. Remotely control your Internet browser, facilities for sending malicious code or disconnect the telephone connection terminal on a recurring basis. These were some of the shortcomings identified in the security company Group Intrepidus Release 1.3.5 of Palm OS WebOS with simply sending an SMS message.

When we started to look around a bit it became clear WebOS the new platform was shot by some very dangerous errors. These errors can be traced as WebOS is essentially a web browser and applications are written in JavaScript and HTML. This also means that WebOS applications are subject to many web application vulnerabilities as any seasoned developer knows very well.

To make matters worse, the company has released a demo video which shows the existence of many of the shortcomings outlined in the report. Also noted that Palm seems to have corrected the problem with version 1.4 of WebOS, although given the architecture of the system does not preclude further errors.

A new Palm suitors will come from China

A new Palm suitors will come from China

The sale of Palm promises to become one of the largest financial soap opera history of telecommunications in view of the number of candidates that have arisen with the intention of taking the garden one of the largest reefs worst commercial and technologically exploited. Along with the increasingly intense rumors of negotiations with HTC and Lenovo, is now the Chinese consortium made up of the ZTE Corp. and Huawei jumping into the fray as possible candidates to win the jackpot.

For inri of Sunnyvale, has made known that it was the board of directors of Palm itself which contacted known manufacturers of electronic equipment in a series of preliminary meetings that took place in the middle of last February, trying to find a solution to the situation now facing.

The fact that two Chinese companies have become potential buyers it makes sense if we consider that, despite his attempts by entering the mobile phone market, Huawei lacks the necessary reputation and a proprietary operating system to keep up with other brands of the highest order.

In addition, the consortium has in its favor low production costs and the capital injection needed to revive the brand, can invest enough money to catch up with the development of new terminals. In this case, Palm would be the right bridge to bridge the difficult obstacle they have to circumvent the Chinese brands and products in the West whose quality is still more than questioned by consumers.

Lenovo may buy Palm

Lenovo may buy Palm

Since the collapse of Palm years ago, both in sales and prestige, it seems as if a label permanently suspend her balance. First it was Apple and now it seems that the rumors point to Lenovo as a potential buyer of the American company after the final collapse of its share price, mainly owing to the poor performance in sales, situated far below their original forecasts.

Which company makes a delicious caramel Sunnyvale multinational attempt to sink my teeth into the mobile telephony market, as is the case of Lenovo. A good example of this is the nearest market in their country of origin of its first Android-powered device such as LePhone.

As usual in these cases, both Palm and Lenovo have not acted formally on the subject, although the issue has the interesting enough for the famed American channel CNBC on economic issues has been made of the item. Which, on the other hand, caused a temporary surge in the share prices of the American manufacturer.

However, the only actions that really interest us are those that deal directly with the future for the cornerstone of what today represents Palm operating system webOS. Since one of the possible solutions put forward by Jon Rubinstein for the current chaotic situation that Palm is to offer through licensing its operating system for implementation in terminals from other manufacturers.

To make an appearance at Lenovo the market for smartphones by the acquisition of the company that supports the investment group Elevation Partners, is not known to what extent the Chinese company would be interested in using webOS or simply build on the experience accumulated by Palm in the field of mobile telephony. Palm Pre Plus Plus and Pixi way to Europe

Palm Pre Plus Plus and Pixi way to Europe

There is less for the updated models of the Palm landing in Europe. We found that the workhorses of Palm were around when the announcement of the models pre and Pixi Plus connectivity GSM / UMTS to market with AT & T, but only now have tracks evident that the European versions already exist and are on their way. (# )

has now been confirmed that the GCF has approved and P121UEU P101UEU versions, where U means UMTS and "U.S." indicates that they come to Europe. These European models are quad-band (GSM / GPRS / EDGE) with dual mode (UMTS / HSDPA, but not HSUPA) will work in the 2100/900 MHz frequency pair.

Between national unknowns are whether any operator will be the exclusive and, if so, if repeated Movistar plate. And the question remains whether the Pixi Plus will arrive in Spain, which did not happen with the Pixi to dry. Hopefully this update will improve the poor hardware sales of some terminals, and a system-that deserve more attention.

Palm announces the public beta of the PDK for WebOS

Palm today announced at the Game Developers Conference that you can now download the beta of a plugin for their SDK known as PDK Plugin Development Kit-through which will be much easier for developers to create 3D games for WebOS. According to Palm, the PDK can use C and C + + along with web languages SDK populating the WebOS and will coexist in the same application.

Some developers who saw the KDP before it was published, have been WebOS creating games and think it is available over 20 games to include: Guitar Hero, Assassin's Creed or Real Soccer 2010.

After the bad numbers that are offering WebOS, despite all the potential that has the Palm operating system, this is seems like a step which should have come months ago and not a moment that his most direct, Apple and Android, are crowding a market where every time the power of mobile game has more and more weight.

Facebook to get a major upgrade webOS

Facebook to get a major upgrade webOS

The "queen" of social networking excellence, Facebook, released an update to its application based on Palm Pre webOS its "App Catalog". This release is a major facelift on the App was available until now only allowed to change the status in your profile, adding various features that put you up to the iPhone or Android App.

( #) The features that are included in the new update are, one by one, the ability to search, manage, Facebook messages, view events, updates from news sources (contacts, pictures, etc..) and manage photos with Yes.

Yet, inexplicably, has not included Facebook chat features (that comes with the iPhone App, but not that of Android) or viewing the videos uploaded on the page (Are they waiting for arrival of "Flash"?). To resolve, in part, these drawbacks, there are applications "3rd party" that offer the ability to chat on the Facebook network. Still more had not been officially supported the App that feature. A pity.

You can see it unfolding in this video.

The update also suffers from not being able to respond to requests our contacts, or lack of notification.

Those who have tried it agree that it has a fast interface, simple and intuitive, which lets you view the photos completely and all the profiles of your contacts. Also we can update our state we're in the section of the App

We leave you with a complete photo gallery on this update.

These notifications and sound are configurable for mail, instant messaging or timing.

Other developments in the Palm world

I wish to inform you about the rumor circulating through the network, starting in the Wall Street Journal, which argued that Palm is preparing together with the carrier AT & T a new device webOS. There is talk that this change in the line that we saw with the Palm Pre Plus Plus and Pixi. Little else is known about it, but would be ready later this year.

WebOS 1.4 Available for Pre Palm Movistar

Is public, according to results of the company and the statement that Jon Rubinstein has recently made to its employees explaining the situation of the company, that things were not going as planned. Do not know how to get to carry this forward, as the base (hardware and operating system) is really good, but competition is also increasingly harder.

Returning to the update, there are many more changes that I have the ability to recognize and I'm not webOS user, for now I invite you to review you pass by taking their kids from precentral to the news. I hope some of you can help us out as we expand with information.

Thanks for the warning to Melkaya.
